As of April 22, 2010, the Wisconsin Department of Health Services along with the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), is requiring those involved in renovations in homes built before 1978, disturbing more than 6 square feet of interior space or more than 20 square feet of exterior space to have Wisconsin Lead-Safe Renovator certification. This could include remodeling, repair, rehab, weatherization, painting, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, window refinishing, carpentry, etc. Business owners as well as site supervisors are recommended to attend these classes. If your business will do any of these renovations, at least one person in every company must be certified. The new regulation requires that the certified person be available by phone and be present at the set-up and the clean up of the jobsite. If you have questions about what person(s) from your company should be certified, contact Robin Pharo of Healthy Homes at 608-437-8633. Robin’s company is the training provider for these WBA-sponsored courses. In class you will learn about: - Regulations
- Proper lead safe practices during setup
- Proper lead safe practices while the work is being completed
- Proper lead safe practices during clean-up
- Recordkeeping
- Training non-certified renovation workers
